Hello all - Greetings from New Zealand!

I've always followed this forum extensively and I must say ... WOW you guys are freakin incredible with some of your skills... I hope to be as good one day.

Well! here goes... I'm finally having a go at my 1/5th scale Wankel... twin! :S
Modeled off a 13B scale and modified in some areas ... I know, i know... many challenges.
Bbasically im CNC'ing the lot apart from finishing of the ES, and the first will be glow for ease configuration.

Figured I would make it all out of T6 first to measure and combat my mistakes along the way :D

Anyhow thought i'd have a go at sharing some of my pics..

Cheers!

@Moderators - Apologies if this threads in the wrong place.

Wow! That's a hell of an undertaking. I wish you the best of luck...

Where do you get plans for a Wankel???
Yeah good question.. Its a bit of a treasure hunt really.. Basically I searched every dark corner of the net till I got hold of some copies of an original which vht.de used to sell... Then I got in contact with someone on another RC forum who drew one up back in 2005. Then it's solidworks and cam after that, with some changes along the way etc etc.

Looks like one of the original Australian Sherline lathes in one of your pictures - Brass Ways ? Do you use it much ?

I have just aquired one myself and learning how to use it.

Will the center section be made in steel? How will you finish the running surface?

Yes the main rotor housings and es will be from steel eventually, maybe something like 1045.. The rotor I'm not so sure about.. Maybe anodizing hardcoat? Also I read in another forum about suggeston of buying a precut internal gear and pressing it in, but I would think it would be easier to cut this as one peice.. We shalll see.

Yes it's one of the originals, it's done well over the years but it's really in need of an upgrade :)
