I have tried with small radius as well as a larger radius although I do have some disc carbide tips I could try. But as Vietti mentioned it would be quite problematic when it comes time to machine the journals as I know carbide tips can easily break when it's on and off the metal with offset turning. I'm sure I'll find a solution, this thread has given me plenty to try.
