No big deal, but I'm pretty pleased with this:

Especially for boring; figure out the maximum depth, zero the indicator with it pressed in a ways, and then repeat over & over again :)
 
Nice idea. I like it better than my setup. I use an indicator behind the carriage but it means I'm forever putting it on and off.
 
Nice setup and the steel benchtop is handy for this sort of thing.

Below is a setup I like to use. The indicator is mounted on the tailstock ram. I can set zero using the tool post and then measure tailstock ram movement or I can set zero using the ram and measure carriage movement. Without the block shape tool post, some other stop would have to be used. I also use indicator mounts that mount on the lathe bed.

The drill chuck has to be removed sometimes when turning as it can get in the way.

So THAT'S what those holes in the compound are for! I had been wondering... ;D
