I don't know about you fellows, but most of the swarf I make when working with aluminum is---well---bearable. The one swarf which I find nastiest of all (and we're not counting steel swarf, which is in a league of its own) is the swarf from fly cutting. It sticks in my shirt---in my hair--clings to my shoes and pants and gets dragged up into the living room rug. I've even found peices of it stuck to my cat!!! Its comma shaped, thick at one end and kinda tapered at the other, and has a curve to its body. I am very carefull not to drag stuff upstairs into the living quarters, because my wife gets after me if I do, but I find with the swarf from fly cutting, the damn stuff is like metallic cooties! Ya just can't get rid of them.

There is an uglier sort - the stuff with your blood all over it!

Cast iron does not make little 6s and 9s. But you do have to clean the sink very well after washing up to avoid rust stains.

I suppose that us old gray heads could leave it in for a day or two and just dampen our hair and become red heads.

I'd personally say the ugliest to me is turning stainless steal. And if you are not careful you will end up with the real ugly stuff (as Tel says) with your blood on it.
