Teflon in Australia

Hi
I need some 6mm teflon. Preferably flat but i can deal with rod if i have to.
I need to make three rectangles 6mm x 50mm x 30mm, i don't really want to buy a huge sheetcause its expensive and i will quite probably never need the rest. Its for the paddles for my nut cooking machine. I am in australia, Batemans Bay. Anythoughts?
Mite be some Caramel Macadamias in it for someone?

They sell all sorts of stuff on ebay including teflon sheet they state in their sellers description for the 6 mm sheet ( $70 au approx) that they will cut to order so may have offcuts .
Most cutting boards are nylon so may not handle the heat but i did see an ad for a teflon cheese board while i was digging around on ebay around $40 au

If you google PTFE suppliers in your local area, you may find one with some small offcuts.

The 2 companies I use for plastic are E-plas and Cut to Size Plastics. I prefer Cut to Size as they are closer to me in Brisbane. They sell rod in 1 metre lengths if they don't have offcuts. Eplas sell in 3m lengths.

Having said that and on the subject of macadamias, I picked up 3 metres of 75mm dia black HDPE rod today and could be pursuaded to "part" with some. PM me tonight or grab my contact details off the web site in my signature block and give me a call on my mobile.

Go to your local transport company. Teflon plates are used in place of grease on turntables. They may have a worn out peice.

Its not teflon. Melts. Tried it and ended up with plastic covered nuts

I found a big bucket of "teflon" of cuts at transport supply place. $5 each. Thought i had struck gold. All were hdpe or nylon. Maybe its the same. Melts with a hot knife and it not really white. Learning lots about different plastic tho

Cadillac Plastics sell a wide variety of Teflon. Sheet rod balls powder etc. they also have bronze filled, glass filled ,graphite filled etc etc.

The teflon coated cookware is normally a black or grey coloured coating. That's as far as my knowledge extends.

According to wikipedia in its pure form it is white but being a polymer it may be able to be coloured ?
You could also try your local boating store as the skids on many trailers are teflon .
I don't know if there is a specific food grade of this stuff that may factor into it also.

Teflon is also called PTFE and is available at the companies I listed earlier. They are in most states. Check the TDS on this page

And yes, plastics are often coloured from their natural state.

I'm not a boater or in Australia but Teflon/PTFE is quite soft so I'd guess that a skid for a boat trailer, while it might be called Teflon, is more likely UHMW, it's much more rigid and still pretty slippery.
