Hello everyone. Since my last post, Ive had some developmental changes in the steam car. One being my going full rat rod/steampunk. This brings me to my next question: Does anyone know where to find plans for a steeple compound steam engine? If not, how would I design one using existing plans available? I'm picking a steeple compound because it look awesome enough to put in a rat rod.

You would just stretch the distance between the steeple and the other bearing support so you could get a compound cylinder and two throw crank between them.

Depending on the power you need this engine to put out it may be better to have separate cylinders rather than a single one with the HP an dLP bore. Add an extra bearing between the two cylinders with bearing support for the crankshaft.

Are you going to lay this engine down? if not a steeple puts the crank quite high in the car. And all those long moving rods and linkages may look nice but they are more suited to slower reving engines rather than the high speed steam engines you find in steam cars.

I'm going to leave the engine up right. Ive a steeple engine made for a car in a steam automobile magazine. The engine was two steeple engines side by side and it made 62.5 horsepower. I want the engine tall because anything goes in a rat rod, and a tall engine like this in the steampunk rat rod would be awesome. I plan on using a small gearbox going from the engine crank to the transmission to "gear up" the engine speed.
