Sorry, I am new to this site. I am trying to build a small steam engine for my little pontoon boat. It will needs to be able to start without help and revers too. can anyone help me with this. I own a full line machine shop so anything that can be done I should be able to do it.

Hi
Depending on the size of the model, but a small oscillating v twin could do the job,
Black Gate do plans and castings, ore Stuart models do casting pack and plans for a slightly smaller both self starting and reversible.
Hope this helps
Les.

Well dereels in the spirit of southern hospitality
I grant your wish.

A fine specimen of an engine that I believe will do the job.

Twin Cylinder marine.
It is metric and in french

and look here for other possibilities.

Self starting you will need a twin cylinder double acting and to reverse you need a reversing mechanism.

If you could tell us what size engine you need or at least what size boat that would help us help you.

Now a little about this site. We are a friendly bunch but introductions go a long way .
Please post an introduction in the welcome sub fora tell us a bit about yourself your shop and a little more about your interests in model engines .
Location is also helpful. Where in the world are you? and by what name would you like to be addressed here?

To just show up and ask for plans without first introducing yourself is considered a bit rude.
