I have three of the small steam engines made by Microcosm that I purchased on eBay. I finally got around to mounting them onto an aluminum plate with a piping system so that I could run them on compressed air or steam. Unfortunately those tiny valves leak a significant amount of air so I may have to replace them with some different valves later on. The piping system is just a length of 1/4" copper tubing with some hexagonal "nuts" that I drilled and cut off of a piece of solid hex stock. I threaded one side for the stanchion to elevate the pipe to the proper height and slide them onto the copper tubing and soldered them into place. I then drilled through the side of the nut to make the connections. I plugged the one end of the pipe and fitted the other with a quick connector to attach it to an air hose. I have a few more steam engines that I am planning on making a similar display for.
