Shars 0" to 4" depth micrometer

I just bought a Shars 0" to 4" depth micrometer from a private seller. It looks really good, but I'm curious about something. All of the different "probes" that fit into the actual micrometer have a snap ring at one end with about 0.100" sticking out beyond the snap ring. When the micrometer is adjusted to 0", the 0.100" of probe is still stuck out beyond the flat surface of the micrometer. So---do I assume that this micrometer only measures from 0.100" to 4"---Brian

Stick them in from the other end, possibly the ratchet on your one needs to come off rather than the body shown below
