From the other side,

Have a look at the engineers workshop in an aircraft carrier or even better a destroyer, (no surface grinder, no mill), then ask me about twist and level and........................ The guys still manage to do some pretty respectable work despite the environment.

Much better if you can have all the things lined up and bedded down however for all but very high precision ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? so IMHO don't bust you tender parts too much

I supply and install robots for a living - these can be hung upside down or bolted to a wall - but we still precision level them for future reference purposes.

Just simply good practice.
