Hello to all,

I would like to build the BollAero 18 but before I start building it I need to know how it works.

These are my question regarding the engine:

1. Why do I need the holes in the crankshaft? Are they necessary for the function of the engine?
2. For what do I need the timing diagram?

I would be very happy if someone could help me out.

BTW: I'm a beginner in RC engines.

Thank you @Engine maker for your reply!

I thought that they were needed for the compression.

Do you know what I can do with the timing diagram on the plans? I don't know how to use them.

The timing diagram was there for information purposes. If the engine is built according to the plans then that diagram shows when the various ports will open and close. That chart was used to determine how tall to make the piston, how long to make the rod and where to put the ports in the cylinder sleeve.

Those numbers are fairly typical for a 2 stroke engine.

Or sometimes the degree chart is made after the engine is built to try and figure out why it runs so well, or so poorly...

Hi Bianconero,
If you are still building the Bollaero 1.8, you can find some info in this video [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZRhCpMaWnk[/ame] I posted a couple of years ago. Feel free to ask any question.
