Has anyone built this kit?

I have built a number of Anthony Mount's engines but not that one. I had hoped to make one but the kits are no longer available.

Anthony wrote up the entire build back in 1995 in Engineering in Miniature and I can remember discussing it with him. The trickiest part he thought was the side frames which are soldered up.

I have seen his engine run.

I built two of the engines from scratch. One with one cylinder and one with two cylinders. I used the plans that were published in Engineering in Miniature.

I have Anthony Mount's book around here somewhere. Some very interesting models. I was lucky enough to purchase this engine kit off eBay years ago. I paid as much in shipping from England as for the kit.

To make the cylinder you need a curved boring bar!!!

Hello, I made this engine from that kit approx 25 years ago. In my kit the lattice pillars which are placed on both sides of the cylinder were made of laser cut metal sheet and soldered with flanges etc.

The cylinder was a cast part. I manufactured the curved cylinder hole by using a round table on the milling engine. The cylinder was fixed on the round table excentric as required by the radius of the curve. A fly cutter was fixed in the milling head. The cylinder was moved in the rotating fly cutter by swinging the round table. This produces a part of a torus hole
