Taking a break from my engine builds to make some well needed tool holders for my phase II holder. I found that holders are a bit pricey. $30.00 + per unit. I bought 8 pieces of metal metal mart. The price with shipping $68.00 along with several hours of milling I will have $240.00 worth of holders.

Here are a few photos of the project so far
This is the parts just out of the shipping tube

Next step will be to cut the 60 degree bevels to fit the holder. Im doing all the hard stuff first in case I screw up so as not to waist time. Till Next time Thanks for looking

I need to make some of those too, I will be watching how you go about it.

IronHorse

Tin

Tin I did try the cheap ones and had no luck with them. I also look at the time on the machine using new tools as a good learning experience.

Well after being sick for the last 10 days I was able to get into the shop and get sme more work done on the blocks.

I was able to mill the area between where the dovetail will be cut. I used a .625 rough cutting cutter

I cut the center down .450 in .050 steps.

I then cut from center .375 to leave me 1.375 width for the clearence on the center of the holder dovetails

Next step will be to cut the dovetail with the 60Degree cutter. Till I can get back to the shop that is it for today

Hey Dave!
I'm getting a hankering for some diner food.
Unfortunately I've been working every weekend for the last few months...but mid-November is looking good.
Can't do it near Thanksgiving...I try to starve myself for a while in prep. ;D

What do you think?
