I have been working in machine shops for over 16 years and still love it. I have built about 12 small steam engines. Most of them are Elmer's Engines. I work full time as a model maker for the Air Force and part-time for Sinclair Community Collage as a technician in their machine shop. Here are a few pictures of an engine I designed and built for the Sinclair to show off at open house and tool shows. The hardest part was drilling the intake and exhaust. The intake starts from the back of the bottom brass plate and runs all the way up to the cylinder with about .03" wall thickness passing the crankshaft. The exhaust runs back down the other side of the crank shaft. The flywheel was made on a wire EDM to look like a gear as well as the logo Sinclair uses.
