Hello All

I joined a few months ago but this has been the first opportunity to introduce myself. I from Coventry in England and worked within the automotive and aerospace industry for decades, but enjoy building small steam engines, gadgets, clocks and tools.

I have just completed a refurbishment of my Loughborough Trainer, including changing the motor to 3 phase and added an inverter for speed control, scraped the slides and gib strips and added a DRO system to X and Y axis.
I’m now just about to start building the most compact power hacksaw I can, from scrap material I have hanging about the place.

If I can help with anyone’s questions I will be more than happy to do so.

Welcome tintin, how about making your hacksaw build your first thread
All the trials and tribs you will get plenty of good advise. Regards barry

Hi Tintin, welcome!

Sounds like you will have some interesting build threads for us in future

I'll take your advice on the the thread, I'll be interested in what people have to say.

There's a guy on youtube called myfordboy .
He build a compact power hacksaw wich seems to work very wel .
Sadly he's selling the plans , but the video on youtube should give you a pretty good idea how it works .

I'll try to avoid welding.
If you have a 3D printer you might want to look at you tube as there is a conpact saw using 3D parts. They can be down loaded from thingiverse.

This is the basis of my own design, I am intending to use 3D printed parts, some cast parts and sheet.

I'm hoping to finish the draft design by the week end.
