Hi all!
Im 17 and i have a simple wobbler and a little 2 stroke engine under my belt, and i have to admit the 2 stoker didnt start. But the wobbler ran as a champ.

My next school year im going on a school ship, and im really excited.

And im going to live on the ship for 10 months and i need something to do when im not in class

So her comes my question:

I would like to build a simple ic engine, 2 or 4 stroke
and ofc 4stroke is little more Komplikated

1 or more cylider v, inline, radial

and not to smal

Do you guys have any sudjestion?

First of all welcome to the forum .

I guess the question that comes to my mind is what machinery do you ave access to . Will you have access to the ships machine shop/ school machine lab.
Lots of good engine plans here
All in metric dimensions

Lots of ideas here as well.

Welcome Toby, and the best of luck with your next engine.

Welcome Toby, it looks as if the year on the ship will be a good experience (although I could not understand the Norwegian).

Making an engine is a good way to spend your time out of class. I hope you enjoy it.

This is a good place to ask questions and get answers.

Toby: you may want to ask questions lots of them . I am impressed that you want to build model engines in your free time. I would expect the instructors will be as well. will you have opportunity for machining classes on board?. If you want to take your own tools materials and lathe on board will you have a place to use and store them in the same area. There may not be room in the berthing are to machine and bunk mates may not appreciate swarf in there socks.
I know little of life aboard ship but do know space can be limited.
Sounds like a great opportunity and you will likely make the most of it.
Also will you have internet access on board and the ability to hang out here?

Yeah, machining is so much fun.

The school have a buildning on land with all the machines, and its internet onboard so i can hang out her :D

I now they have a lathe onboard, but not sure with the milling machin.

I have not decided which engine to build, but really like the one cfellows did, http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/f14/open-column-twin-562/ and one i fond on youtube: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apF_uoF1Nao&list=UUSN_jfvtt4ISxTJ-9cKND8w&index=3&feature=plcp[/ame]

Do you guys know about more sites containing plans and in metric?

Toby

Best of luck with your project. Nothing like machining to take your mind off sea sickness:)
