The small launches tend to run steel boilers that can make 200plus psi these will work with say a Stuart Swan or Cygnet and I don't doubt this engine could power a small launch. Some typical boiler shere

Not always easy to get a triple compound to run on air if built to the drawings. You need to play about with the eccentric positions a bit and may also need to feed HP steam to the IP cylinder. Or resort to leaving out a valve or piston altogether.
Hi jason

So it looks like there are four rings of holes in the round steam chest and a slot top and bottom.

My thought are that the central two rings of holes (red) are cored to the inlet on the side of the cylinder

The top ring of holes is cored to the smaller HP cylinder and the lower ring of holes cored to the bottom of the HP cylinder. (blue)

The two slots are cored to link the two valve chests together taking the exhausted HP steam to the LP valve chest

This means that the piston valve can be solid as the exhaust does not have to pass up and through the piston and then feed via a single slot.

What we need to know is the diameter and vertical poiition of the holes as sjown by the green arrows. If you cross dril the shaft of your measuring tool to take a small piece of rod then that will allow it to be used in the holes.

On the slide valve dimensions did you make allowance for the thickness of the disc on the end of the rod? as the ports seem smaller than the rubbing suggested.

Also where you have sizes at the top of the drawing and at the bottom are they measurements either side so the 55.5 and 53.9 indicate the port is sloping?
