Milled out of some scrap aluminum alloy ... Nowadays I find myself in the habit of centering around the micrometer for majority of manual lathe work; i.e. target measurement fixed in micrometer; a digital caliper reads the incremental/left over amount; and the DRO sets the actual feed amount... So, I made a stand for the micrometer ...

Nice one oxotnik, the recess for the allen key is a good idea. I like to keep allen keys close to their application; they are cheap enough to do so.

I actually use a pcb vice with rubber jaws and a ball swivel as a micrometer stand. It has a vacuum base which I don't use but I think a magnetic base might be useful on occasions.

oxotnik: Very nicely done. Another one to add to the to do list. Great pictures thanks for posting. Roger
