I was just wondering if any of the SE Michigan gang was going to the Maker Faire this coming weekend. I will be down with the boys from the Metro Detroit Metalworking Club. If you are down there say hello. I will be the only one down there with miniature engines.

I won't be going this year, literally no money to travel across the country for a few days.

However I do need a break, so I'm hoping to go to: http://www.pageantofsteam.org/ which is literally a short drive from Rochester NY. It has been years since I've gone to this show so, it should have that fresh coat of paint feeling to it. For those that don't know the organization behind this is "New York Steam Engine Association" and this year the show is scheduled for Aug 7 through the 10 th. maybe the show should be listed on this forum someplace?

Interestingly the show got started the year I was born, that would be 1960. I can't remember the first time I dropped in. I do fear that this year will provide us with plenty of mud ( it has rained almost every day here this year).

Show was good and the weather held out pretty good. Among the highlights for me was the jet engines made from turbos. Mini steam engines that were not models. These were salesmens samples that were from the museums collection. There was the mouse trap game that was life sized. and of course who doesn't love a 20 foot tall fire breathing dragon. I didn't have time to get many pictures but I did manage a few. There was so much to do and see there is no way i could cover it all. I'm sure over the next few days the videos and pictures will start popping up on youtube so if you get a chance google "Maker Faire Detroit 2013" and you will get the idea.
