I wanted to make casting mold sand that is like petrobond, red in color, and oil-bonded

a question (I don't know if it's a stupid question)
If I change the bentonite clay for natural red clay the color will change like the petrobond

Petrobond changes color to black after a few uses.
The natural bond sand is very good sand and low cost easy to use. Small foundries like this one and schools.

Bentonite add to sand needs to be mulling. This can done by spreed in driveway and use car or building a muller.

Ruben this is the recipe that I used to make petrobond, I mix it in 10lbs batches at a time. I copy the recipe from sandramer. I've been mulling it by hand it takes a while but it is cheaper than purchase petrobond. Petrobond catalyst is(propylene carbonate) Purchase the finest mesh sand you can, I use 190 mesh.
Petro Bond Sand

100 lbs of fine Sand
5 lbs of Petrobond Powder
2 lbs of 30 weight Non-Detergent Oil
1 oz of P-1 catalyst

1: Mix Sand and Petrobond Powder for 5 min
2: Mix in Oil for 15 min
3: Mix P-1 catalyst for 5 min


10 lbs of fine Sand 160.0 Ounce
0.50 lb of Petrobond Powder 8.0 Ounce
0.20 lbs of 30 weight Non-Detergent Oil 3.2 Ounce
0.10 oz of P-1 catalyst

1: Mix Sand and Petrobond Powder for 5 min
2: Mix in Oil for 15 min
3: Mix P-1 catalyst for 5 min

And how would I make a sand of red molds united by oil? I saw a recipe that used clay sand and oil I have several my features are: a red sand made of red clay, which is bound by oil
