For the last few weeks, I've been collecting more stuff including a Maximat V10P lathe with the milling attachment, a Burke #4 horizontal mill and numerous watchmaker and clockmaker hand tools. I visited a gent in the interior of BC here in Canada and found a treasure trove of equipment, clock stuff, an Aciera mill in six pieces and the only Holtzapfel lathe (#859) I'm ever likely to touch. He is asking $5000 for the Holtzapfel lathe which is a more than fair price given it's history (195 years old) but it would only be a showpiece for me which I don't need and can't afford.
I'm going back out there this weekend(700 km one way) and may pick up some more stuff and another lathe that I bought sight unseen for very little money. I know I'm taking a chance but it would be nice to get a cheap lathe for a friend of mine.
