Hi everyone

Here is a video of my cupola furnace melting cast iron with coke. [ame]http://youtu.be/XVsSR_Bpmbo[/ame] These furnaces are very quick melters, this one will melt 200kg per hour. It is 225 mm dia and 2m tall. This was the standard melting unit of an iron foundry until induction furnaces took over.

Thanks for posting that video, it was interesting to watch. I've done a fair bit of aluminum casting, but never cast iron, though I would like to give it a try sometime.

Best casting video I have seen. You've really got it down to a fine art.

Niceonetidy I don't have any plans for it. The dia of the furnace is based on how much output your blower has. A 9" cupola needs about 2-3 vacuum cleaners to get enough air. I used three vacuum cleaners but I found a big blower and did away with the vacuum cleaners
