Hi about to start the cylinders for Hoglet mine are going to be from cast iron. So one question do I drill the four holes for the hold down bolts before turning the cooling fins. Then suffer the interrupted cutting of the tool or turn the cooling fins first then drill the four hold down bolt holes. That might cause the drill to wander off. I will probably do the second option what are your views on this please.

I haven't made a Hoglet, but I would be turning the fins first then drilling the holes. It will be a lot less trouble machining the fins this way, the drill shouldn't wander when going through the fins.

Paul.

I am working on one and I cut the fins first then drilled the holes. Randy

Randy Cox made a larger Hoglet using Briggs & Stratton Heads. That one went into a Harley Sportster frame that he could ride.

He was working on super-Hoglet with Honda heads when he died quite unexpectedly on September 27, 2014.

He will be missed as a good friend.
