Help with 1/4 Galloway drawings

Hi, I'm machining the ignitor trip lever for my 1/4 Galloway and have a question on the prints. In most views that show the hole for the trip lever spring there is an "X" with the letters PNTO next to it. Can some one tell me what this means? Thanks, John.

It is on sheet #2 of the set titled "Pushrod Catch Trip Assy". My drawings are dated 25-Sept.-11.

Hi John,
When Ministeam took over the casting line for the Galloway engines they had me redraw most of the drawings to update them. The only one I didn't do was the 1/4 scale set. These were done by Bob Nawa. I looked at the drawings and I see what you're referring to but for the life of me I can't figure out what it means. I'll see if I can get in touch with Bob and see what he meant by that notation.

I did not do the 1/4 scale drawings. I re drew the 1/8th scale. I checked my drawings and not sure why the X out of the spring hole. I do not think the trip will work without that spring. On the 1/8th scale the hole in the trip is the OD of the spring and there is a corresponding pin (ID of Spring) in the push rod.

I checked a symbols library and could not find PNTO or PNT0 .

My suggestion, maybe other builders of the 1/4 could chime in, ignore it and put the spring in. I suppose you could use a pin on the trip also.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the info. My drawings show a corresponding spring pocket in the push rod so it seems no pin was used in this model. Could the PNTO be the initials of the person who made the X's?

I think the "PNT0" are "reference points" created by the CAD system used to create the drawings that didn't get cleaned up.

I have to apologize to Bob Nawa. When I opened the 1/4 scale drawings I saw the initials RNW on them and kind of assumed it was Bob not realizing that Ministeam had 3 of us redoing the drawings.
I don't know who RNW is or if he visits this site and in my years of drafting I have no idea what those letters mean so I would build it to the print dimensions and not worry about it.
