Hello from Wisconsin

After lurking for a while I thought I should join and introduce myself. I bought a x2 mill and 7x12 lathe this summer and have been learning as I go. As a beginner I have found this forum extremely informative yet intimidating considering the quality and complexity of many of the members work. Everyone does seem very helpful to beginners and this is the friendliest forum I have seen. So far I have built Elmer's Wobbler and Standby. I am currently working on a Grasshopper. I have found it quite satisfying turning a chunk of metal into a finished part and then assembling those parts into a working engine. I plan on building more of Elmer's engines and maybe progressing into making IC engines.

Gus, it has been rather warm the last couple days. Today's high temp was about 38 deg. F which is above average for this time of year. We have about 6" of snow on the ground. It gets down to 10 below zero or worse here in winter which is no fun, definitely not looking forward to that.

It dumped 14" of snow on us at the weekend, but being out in the shoppe, toasty and warm and working on the machines felt reaaaaaaaaaaally good.
