Welcome, Spider! I have a Barnes Lathe from 1880, but I haven't used if for anything. They guy who found it and rebuilt it wanted to get rid of it so he has more space for modern equipment. I hated to think of it going to someone who wouldn't care about it, so I bought it just to preserve it. It is a beautiful machine. If I ever get a larger shop, I will set it up and see how it does. They have a good reputation, at least. The guy who rebuilt it is a jeweler, and very meticulous. It is all gloss black and polished brass fittings. Still has the belt drive, but he made a modern motor mount that attached without modification, so the lathe could be put back to flat belt drive eventually.

you can see my lathe just as soon as I get my phone to talk to my PC , I found out it is a Fischer from Germany bay bee 1896 to 1909 ?

That's Awesome , I think mine is a Fischer from Germany aout 1896 to 1909 . I just had a look at a Barnes Number 5 , Mine is a bit bigger and just a bit younger ,

My mate came from Qld but used to live in SA and was called Spider down there because of his hairy legs I think.
He has a workshop as big as yours and a lathe exactly the same........ can't see it either for all the collection of sh***t.
