Hi, my name is Mark. I'm entirely new to this hobby. I became interested in model engines because of Control line Stunt and Free Flight model airplanes.

I'm currently trying to learn about honing and lapping because I want to have the sleeves of several of my engines hard-chrome plated to restore compression.
These are O.S. Max S .35s, they have leaded steel sleeves, cast iron pistons, no rings.

These were considered excellent stunt engines in the late 60s and 70s. I own nine of them and I'd like to keep them running.

Thanks for having me in the forum.

I've seen those Hodgson 18 Cyl Radials, 1/4 scale Chevy small blocks, steam engines, etc.. Don't know if I'll ever get to that point, but I figure if you all can build them and they run, then I'm certain there is a lot for me to learn here.

All the best,

Mark

Welcome. I thought I would never see the sentence: "Control line stunt" ever again in the age of 8 channels digital radios. Used to fly U control stunt in the late '50. Tried again teaching my son in the '70 but my head spun.

Hi Mauro,
Actually Control Line stunt is still alive.. There are enough stalwarts that we just had the AMA Nationals again and had more than 50 flyers at Muncie.. There are two control line clubs within 45 mins drive of my home, and both have about a dozen guys who are very active, and another dozen or two who are here and there.
Free flight, at least in my area is a different story. Dead as a doornail..
I myself had been out of control line for about 30 years.. It's been fun to get back into it.

And by the way:

Thanks everyone for welcoming me to the forum.

Mark
