Heat treatment for piston rings

How can I heat treat cast iron piston rings?

With my flash steam hydroplane 129.33mph rpm under load at about 11,000.
I used meehanite dykes ring and just placed a shim in the gap and heated evenly to red heat then cooled slowly with no problems.
