I think that with nearly 20,00 members, say half of that figure are active, all trying to get themselves logged on, I would think there is a rather large backlog.

And still nothing from the upper echelon!!!

I have sent Rick an e mail asking for an explanation.
I do not expect to hear anything from him but i asked him to explain what has happened as i think we kind of deserve it.
A lot of the members have been with him since the sites inception and have been loyal throughout all the years.

Some sort of explanation would be nice.

I also said that i would understand if he did not reply because of the circumstances...

While Rick has every right to sell the site, with, as John suggests, a large number of active members, it would have been "the right thing to do" in notifying us of his plans prior to the bomb dropping.
As large as we think we are, I can't imagine that he got enough cash to put his kids through college or buy a new Porsche.
One possibility, given how much a great number of us have learned here, would have been to ask the members to pay a few bucks to buy the site ourselves. I do know the costs of maintaining servers and ISP charges, but he has been doing that for a long time. I would have been happy to PayPal him $10 or $20 to keep doing this. I can't imagine that a nominal amount (even a once-a-year fee) would be a hardship on most of this group. $20 is what we pay for a good end mill.
My other thought is that the buyer isn't doing this as a charity and didn't pay more for this site than they expect to recoup through advertising.

No feedback from the site owner/CEO is troubling.

I'm hoping to get his attention by starting a new thread "I turned off advertising on this forum"

If you are so inclined, go to your Forum Options and scroll to the bottom.
There is a selection to disable advertising"

After you've done this, reply to my new thread.

I don't know, but to me, it seems like this change of the software was not planned and (possibly) had to happen in a very short time.

I hope we are soon going to be informed what is going on here with HMEM!!

Btw: I also was not able to reset the password of (error message that says the link is not valid) my old account and have now created a temporary one (to be deleted as soon as I can use the old one again)

As you all know we have moved to vBulletin and I am working through all the technical issues now.

I will wait till Rick gets online to post his message to dive into it depth but we (Group Builder) have acquired HMEM from Rick.

I understand fully there is going to be a lot of complaints and criticism but I have a perfect track record of acquiring websites without interruption once the transfer/software issues get resolved. I don't mess with policies changes and try not to step on the toes of the Staff. I've been through several so I know the anger coming so all I can do is ask for a bit of time to prove to you all this.

I really miss the sidebar showing recent posts it was a great way to check if there have been updates to my favorite threads. Austin, I will wait and see, but it seems to me that this was done in the dark. Your claim of perfection does not hold much water with me at this point.

Will any pf the downloads section come back? Many of us had original plans and data in it that we had uploaded that was a valuable resource for both member and guests.
