Got a few parts made I'm liking the mill so far so good. I did have a couple glitchs but did get them sorted out.
Any way so far I'm a happy camper and now I'm thinking CNC lathe but first I want to either build a tool sharpening machine or but one I'm leaning toward building my own so I can sharpen my dull endmills. Maybe I'll make that a this winter project for myself.

I have access to Feature Cam so I made a post for it.
I use to use it when I worked in the shop. It is now called Delcam.

Nice looking parts Doc!

Have fun with that beauty!

Thanks Kevin
I'll get more time this winter I have a few things I'd like to work on.
When I get the Atkinson I've started completed I haven't picked out an engine project yet.
I've been working on a flat head v8 design but far from making any chips for it yet. Anyway I'm sure I'll find something to make chips for to keep her busy. :big:

Thinking about getting some shop time in. Can't really do anything out side this afternoon the wind gusts have been around 71mph almost constant .

Here is a 3dpdf of the engine I'm working on.

It is this mill from CNC Masters.

I wish I had one of those... hehehe

It should be very expensive too...

Cheers,

Well didn't get any shop time with the wind nuts outside the lights were flickering and blinking so I didn't want to turn anything on in the shop. The way my luck usually runs I would of burnt out something for sure. :big:
I'm starting to trust myself with the new machine and the post I made for my cam program but the work I left to do on the Atkinson I'm building is almost all manual machine work and lathe work. Hope to work on a v8 Flat head I'm designing after the Atkinson. But maybe before that I would like to build a tool grinder to sharpen some of my dull end mills.

It took me a long time to finally decide to take the plunge and set up a machine shop for myself I've worked in a shop since I was 18 years old and I'm now older than dirt (as they say) and they moved me to tool design about 9 or 10 years ago and I was missing making chips so I splurged and jumped in.

Yes... cool!!!

I believe that in USA this cost is not so high... especially if the planning is for some work you can return a profit... well, a investment to improve of the conditions in your job, increase productions of parts, etc...

In reality, I don't know the cost of a similar machine manufactured here, in Brazil, but to you have an idea, in price of the machine I would have to add the import tax (60%), after the state taxes (17%), that be on the machine's value plus the import tax and maybe yet, another tax on industrialized products. That's what I do to purchase a new Sherline machine, for example.

I will see the price of a machine manufactured here... maybe will be more simple! :(

Cheers,

Alexandre

That darn stupid 'Rich Uncle' just won't show up (nor will any of you guys PM me the winning lottery numbers). I WANT CNC!!!

Right on, and keep on chippin'.

Did get some shop time today I worked on a piston and flywheel. I decided to retain the wrist pin with internal snap rings.
