In my experiences with the electronic edge finders you have to spin them. It says not to in the instructions for mine. I personally do not like them. You should not have to spin them b/c if it is spinning out of round compared to the spindle you really should take account of that so you know how far you are from center. I used the electronic EF's more in the cnc lathes to touch off tools. I would run a jumper from the EF to the turret so when touch with the tip of the tool it would lite up. This worked ok. But I also had the problem that every time I would grab the EF from the tool box the batteries were dead.
