Found this while trying to figure out what thread size is on a potentiometer I want to use in a power supply. The thread is definitely 32tpi, but major dia. Has me confused. The thread measures .3095 with my digital calipers. Falls between 1/4 and 5/16. I lost the nuts for the pot and need to make one but can't figure out what tap to use.

I'd say your thread is 5/16x32, the 0.003 thou difference between 5/16 and your 0.3095 is negligable and could just be down to tightening teh die a fraction.

They tend to cut the threads a little small on those so they can fit through a drilled hole without a lot of cleanup..
