I had intended to make some changes but never did. It runs that is all the matters to me. The cam pushes the switch when the solenoid is out and the magnetic field pulls it back. If you use a variac to adjust the voltage you can make the motor run slow. I had intended to build an multi cylinder with steel pistons, brass lined steel cylinders but never did. I am vacationing in Arizona for the winter when I return to Tennessee for the summer I will get photos of all my engines.

Runs good! Where did the solenoid come from? And what voltage are you running it on?

That solenoid came from WW Grainger. It is 120 VAC and was $3.50 at the time I bought it.
