The "disability" thread has been a bit of inspiration for me. No... I'm not what I'd call "disabled", but health issues and a bit of age are beginning to take a toll. Nothing I'm fussing about..... just old enough to have a bit of empathy for my fellow man.

I went back and dug out an article I read some time ago. I've seen comments that there are no blind machinists. One would most assume such a statement to be an "obvious fact"... that is until one reads how Doug Clarkson has conquered his personal challenges to overcome a world of darkness. If this guy can't impress you with his determination, I doubt anyone can.

Steve

Read it here:

Doug Clarkson runs the tips of his gnarled, but sensitive, fingers over the vernier dial on the lathe in his Bendigo workshop, counting quietly to himself as he does so: 'One, two, three, four ...'

I liked the last line:

""I like to be on my own. So night time's a good time. You can turn the lights out, close the door and everybody thinks I'm in bed. And I'll be working here," he chuckles."
