Hi all, I am building a "PM Research 1Bi kit" and I am not grasping the plan for the cylinder. I have completed the 20degree passageways into the valve ports. But the plans say to mill into cylinder bore. Is this correct? This is what the plan says to do next> "1/8 Dia end mill into cylinder bore from holes 1/8 deep"
Does this mean to mill the holes thru the valve ports into the cylinder bore?

No. It means a small notch from the passageways into the bore at each end so you can get steam to the piston.Oh yeah, wEc1 to the forum.

a picture of the drawing would be nice so we could have a look at it to tell you exactly what is going on.

Dicine,
Here's the cylinder with passageways about to be drilled through to the steam chest ports:

You notch the cylinder ends and then drill at the appropriate angle to meet the ports in the steam chest. Examples shown by others tell the tale.

Note: I removed my original photo from this posting not realizing that the small notches I made on the cylinder ends disappeared when I drilled the passageways :-[
