can you help me identify was type of motor

I have a bunch of savaged electric motors with 90 degree drives. German. Quality. bigger than a bread loaf and heavy. From a Cinema. It has some info on the front, but its in German, relates to voltage, HP etc, but not AC or DC. The main thing is it has 4 conducting wires. two to the rotor brushes and two to the stator coils ( i hope i am using correct terms). Is this three phase? AC?
any clues would be good, unable to post picture at present. The wires seem to be marked 1 2 3 and 0
