I'm making a small model steam engine and I need something to hold the crankshaft onto the crank plate and eccentric. I know normally you would use Loctite 609 but I can't seem to buy it anywhere and the only Loctite products I can find are quite expensive for what they are, so I was wondering if epoxy glue or Araldite would work instead?

Not exactly sure what you are asking but eccentrics usually need adjustment so I use 2 grub screws set at 45° to each other.
Crank shafts are normally made to a press fit or silver soldered.
My experience with epoxy glues has found mixed results and joints that are constantly under stress usually fail .
I would definitely avoid using epoxy to join brass components such as wheels to steel shafts.
I have used both epoxy and loctite with sucess to fix the steel rims to the cast brass hubs of of my locomotive wheels but there is quite a large contact area.
The join is good enough to allow finish machining of the wheels

Hope this helps
