Its getting close to time for the next Cabin Fever Expo. Jan 17-19.

Can you believe its almost 2020?

I have been working on a model boat that I hope will be ready in time. I talked to Jared Schoenly about the boat pond. They are still trying to decide if its is worth the effort to install the pond. The last couple years the activity around the pond seems to have fallen off, and the 'dirt pile' guys are booming. The pond takes a lot of floor space.

Anyone else think the boat pond is worth having? Anyone planning to bring a boat?

Joy and I really enjoyed the boat pond. From a spectator standpoint, it is a nice place to rest and relax a bit. Maybe a smaller pond would fit the bill? See you at the show.

There are at least 6 members in our group that are just into boats and bring upwards of 12 boats every year, mostly steam. Without the pond whey probably won't go. I think the pond should be kept the size it always was. It has always been a great attraction, a place to run your steam boat in winter! No one else has it.

Yes Keep the pond! Myself and a buddy of mine come every year and we pack his car full of boats. The boat pond is the primary reason we make the trip.

We had been deciding but make sure you know there will be the pond! Yes last year the size was reduced slightly to fit the limitations (posts) in the "Transportation Room". It will certainly be there again and we look forward to having everyone! The boat activity has been a little light the past few years. Please come out in force and make sure the pond stays for the future!

We'll have a busy year again at both the show and the auctions. Lots of great things coming and selling! See you all soon!!

Thanks for the update. Last year my buddy and I did not make it to Cabin fever due to winter weather conditions. Typically between the two of us we fill two tables with boats ( primarily Live steam). We really missed not going last year and are anxious for this years event.

Thanks for another great Cabin Fever Expo! We really appreciate your staff taking the time to setup the boat pond. I know you want /need to see the pond better attended in order to make the effort of setting it up worthwhile.

All you fellow model boaters out there lets give Jared a good showing in 2021! Dust off those boats and bring them to Cabin Fever 2021, I know there are alot of beautiful boats out there in both Live Steam and electric, Bring them out! lets show the Cabin Fever Staff that we want the pond to remain!

Thanks to everyone making Cabin Fever a success.

I could almost carbon copy parts of my post last year where I was happy to make it back in one piece, Got caught in a heavy bit of snow driving through NY.

As for the "pond issue", it would be a shame not to have the diversity of steam powered devices represented and boating in general. I was actually a bit surprised at the expansion of the dirt pile area but have to admit it was busy. The floor was a bit crowded in that area, as such it may pay to try a different layout so there is more spectator space. I'm a bit partial to the operating steam trains and that area was tight to access.

One possibility, if the expos center allows it, would be to put the junk dealers outside under a tent. I use the term junk dealers in a positive way as I've purchased stuff from them every year now, there is always good junk to be had. I seriously thought about the cattle pens but I'd imagine a bit of a smell from there. Another would be to move the train setup into the adjoining room.

By the way We could actually use more "junk dealers" as I've made some of my better scores over the years buying from those guys.

In any event another great show. I do make a point to arrive for the auctions and that has gotten to the point that too much is going on at once. It ends up exhausting to try to keep track of what is happening in the different corners of the auction room.
