Hi HMEM,
I find a belt grinder an invaluable tool in the workshop. So I always wanted to build one. Since I have a very small shop it had to be a small one.
There are many belt grinder designs and DIY videos on the net. However, the majority of them require welding for which I have neither the equipment nor the skills.
What I have, however, is quite a pile of aluminum scrap, so I decided to make one without welding just using some basic machining techniques.
Since I've designed it around what I had on hand, I don't expect anyone to copy this design exactly. It may serve as an inspiration to others wanting to build something similar.
I also made a short YT video, so if you'd find some time you might check it out.
In the description is also a GrabCAD link to the 3D model.
Possible future improvements & Add-Ons:
>> Motor Cover
>> VFD Motor Control
>> Lathe Tool Grinding Attachment
>> Radius Grinding Attachment
>> Cam / Cashaft Grinder
I wish you all (as the Germans say...) a "good slide" into 2023! Enjoy!
Cheers,
Branislav
