Love the guy in the back ground smoking while refuelling takes place

Thanks for the memory. A labour of love in getting an old Peggy going again.
We had a lot of Peggies in Royal Air Force 31 (The Goldstars) Squadron on A Flight at RAF Hendon which is now the RAF Museum in London.
We got them in Avro Anson 19's and our couple of Ambulance Mk12's in 1948.

All this 'mending stuff' was in either Air Publications 1525 or 1526 and we were 18 year olds living on a diet of Australian tinned rabbit and ships biscuits left over from the War.

Nice to think that someone still cares. Good on yer

ex Corporal Atkinson.N of Tech Library etc ., RAF Hendon

Adding a bit more- but from Canada, there were lots of 'Peggies' being used on Airspeed Oxfords which were training for 'Empire' pilots who would eventually fly multi engine aircraft. One such RCAF airfield was in Penhold, Alberta where my cousin was a 'rigger' or airframe mech on Ox-boxes.

Bill came back to the UK and worked on Short Sunderland flying boats which also had 'Peggies'

Small world. Penhold is 1.5 hr drive north of Calgary where I live, used to go to airshows there as a kid. Actually Alberta had several 'bases' set up for aviation training at tail end of war; DeWinton, Claresholm. Lincoln Park & Shepard now consumed by Calgary. My earliest RC memories are from Shepard in the 60's before it became a car track & earmarked for next tentacle of urban sprawl. Well, some of those guys obviously stuck around after the war & settled in, because they are my 'seasoned flying buddies', some still active in RC!
