A little about myself HSM history

Gentlemen:
That is not a term I use a lot when posting to boards. This term ia however very appropriate here. This board is becoming a forum of some very impressive individuals. The members are showing a great amount of experience talent comradely and character.
Most boards one gets to know the folks by there posts. The posts ask questions, give advise, show photos of work shops equipment pets etc.
This is a good thing and we do it well here.
This group also has a place to introduce themselves an meet and greet so to speak.
I am glad folks have taken the time to use this thread to introduce themselves with a short bio.

Keep them coming I am looking forward to getting to know more people as new members join and as others come out of the shadows.

Sorry I started a new hello Thread then saw this....

I was apprenticed in 1984 in the Royal Navy and craft specialised in Fitting and Turning. I've served on various steam and diesel powered vessels, the last two as Chief Engineer. I've also held instructional and training design posts but most enjoyed a 2 year foreign draft to Singapore where I was a Wharf Manger. I currently serve at a Royal Marine Base as the I/C of maintenance for the craft used in Training Landing Craft Coxswains.

Generally I shine my arse sat at my desk but we have a small workshop facility which I occasionally use to show the workforce that I can cut the mustard.
An unfortunate price of promotion is the desolation of a desk job.

As mentioned elswhere I am currently scratch building a triple expansion marine engine to a set of Reeves plans. The main reason for this is as a vanity to myself and to have a tangible item I can show that I once had some skill.

I love to see what others can do, often with far less machinery but usually far more patience.

I have watched this interesting forum right from the humble start, but made my first post today.
So I thought I would just say hello here. Not much to tell about my background, but I have always had the desire to make small model engines.

I got a Myford ML7 about two years ago, but have not tooled up much yet (yep, got, not bought) .
I haven't even placed the lathe on a proper solid bench yet, just a simple wobbly table (too many hobbies, so little time) :roll: .

Some of you will surely recognize me from the HSM forum, by now.

Well folks this is ancient history in some regards. It has come to my attention that many folks are signing up and introducing themselves. This is a fantastic thing and as it should be. it is helpful to to know a little about you. but many of the new folk probably do not know me other that an administrator that welcomes them and answers questions. so as HMEM comes up on being on line for Five years I thought I would dig up my intro for new folks to see and read. and if you wish you can comment or add to this thread. I am not looking for attention . I am here to help you in this hobby and I thought it would be good if you knew a little about me since I am often asking folks for introductions.
Thank you to all who have contributed to this fine board over the years and may it continue into the future.
