    Another European "Hoglet-V2" is finished

Wonder why everyone puts the sprang bearing on the kick starter shaft or starter motor and not on the crankshaft? This way the chain only moves when starting and makes it less likely some kid will stick his finger in the works.

Are you sure?? If the tool is at 90 degrees and the tool post is moving in and out at 90 degrees doesn't seem to matter??

    Material for fuel tank

I made some clear tank ends for a fuel tank out of polycarbonate. Wanting to clean it up before gluing I sprayed it with carb cleaner and it went into a crazy crinkle-fracture pattern, ruining it. So before putting too much time in your plastic projects try the likely fuel on it and let it...

Building a twin cylinder inline i.c. engine.

Brian, I generally buy my screws as long as possible, they don't cost much more when buying them by the box of 100, and then shorten as needed.

still learning, what causes this texture

A possible source of nice sand is a fracking company, the sand acts as a propent to prop the newly formed fractures open. The Saint Peter sand is often the source. A fracking company might even give you some, I think they get it in bulk.

Perhaps your new coil is for a CDI ignition and if so won't work with points.

Machining aluminum crankcases for model airplane engines questions

If you are worried about the abrasive embedding in the Al, try Timesaver. It is supposed to break down and that's why its called timesaver so you don't have to disassemble the parts to clean out the spent abrasive

    2024 Florida Flywheelers Show

Green Twin, Thanks for posting the info on International Famous engines. I'm currently building a model of one and the pictures are very helpful. International claims this is a simple engine but its features make for some interesting machining challenges like speed control. The design...

Building a twin cylinder inline i.c. engine.

Thought Hall sensors needed to see a south pole to fire the coil. How does the N magnet work? Probably a dumb question--but?

    Optimal number of boiler tubes.

Way out of my knowledge zone, perhaps already answered, but couldn't the super heater in a vertical boiler be a simple flat coil of tubing at the top of the fire box that conducts the steam going from the throttle to the cylinder? All radiant heat from the flame, no obstruction of the flues.

Building a twin cylinder inline i.c. engine.

Speaking of head gasket leaks, I have had good luck using O rings, esp on simple round cylinders. An appropriate groove is cut into the head about 1/2 the diameter of the O ring deep. Red Permatex keeps it in position for easy head removal and replacement. I believe dragsters use them too...

    Optimal number of boiler tubes.

I haven't been following this closely but are radiant super heaters being considered? By radiant I mean the super heaters extend to the back of the firebox and presumably pick up a lot of heat. Worked for me in an Allen 10 wheeler.
