    Ringless piston question

i have several model hit and miss engines that run just nice without rings, but the cylinder and piston are both made out of cast iron so the expansion rate should be the same. i lap the bore and then lap the piston to fit, and i give the piston about .0001" to .0002" clearance. the engines...

well it has been a long time since i last worked on this engine, i hope to see this project through to the end this time (but one never knows) first i have to admit that i messed up the original cylinder castings (all 3) i didn't have a rotary table to index all the bolt holes. these bolt holes...

Tool dig in. Part, slide and moral totally shattered.

it would have to exert pressure on the part thus forcing it on to the tool while still rotating as it nears the end of the cut as Tel said with the chance of it either breaking the tool or forcing it into the bar stock or damaging the part off face of the part wow i never would have thought of...

The Smallest Part You Ever Made?

well here you go rick. the big nut is #6-32 and the small nut is 00-92 not 00-90 i cut this thread on my 9" south bend and it only has 92 threads to the inch not 90. with that in mind i remember making a 00-92 tap for the nut but i cannot find the tap >:( if i find it i will post a picture...
