    First IC engine suggestions

Weez, The cylinder was sleeved with CI lapped to glass smooth finish, piston aluminum with 1 Oring made of silicone. I found quite a difference in Oring materials. From my experience the Oring works best if it barely touches the cylinder, Always remember to reduce friction anywhere you can when...

    First IC engine suggestions

Hi Weez, My first IC engine was the Kerzel and still one of my favorite engines. The prints are great. I also learned to cut my first gears, spoke flywheel and sparkplug. The motor runs cool without coolant for hours, starts first flick of the flywheel. Gary

    Tether Cars or Tethered Cars

Hi Graham, Years ago I had a collection of 30s & 40s tether cars that I regretfully sold. The only one I kept was a Dooling F with a McCoy red head. Somewhere in my stuff there are assembly prints for a Syncro Rocket. These were about full sized & very complete with chassis, body & engine but no...

    glass cutter

Hi Mike, I have not used the glass cutter from McMaster Carr, but all of my attempts to cut pyrex tubes had failed until I used the following method. Spiral wrap entire tube with one layer of masking tape, scribe to the desired length through the tape only, very gently clamp the tube in...

    Help with Kerzel H&M engine

I don't use oil in the fuel, I used a silicone oring for the piston ring. Silicone is much softer rubber than viton and still holds up to the combustion temperatures. When first starting my engine I used generous amounts of oil in the rear of the cylinder & on the valve guides. I believe that...

    Help with Kerzel H&M engine

Hi Rich, Your exhaust valve should start to open just after bdc & close approx. at tdc, If the exhaust valve is opening a little early or closing a little late you can increase the valve lash to correct that. Ignition about tdc. You should hear the intake valve make a burping or sucking sound on...

Philip Duclos "Odds N Ends" hit and miss engine

Hi Brian, sorry to hear about your crash, we've all had that happen more than once. My solution for a day like that comes in a clear bottle labeled Dewars, all you have to do is add ice, works like magic. The normal disclaimers, I'm in no way affiliated with this company. just good...
