    diamond grinding wheel

I have a couple of grinders that I use with my stained glass work. They use a 3/4 or 1 inch diameter diamond coated sleeve that is threaded onto a brass drum. The drum has a 1/4 or 5/16 inch shaft hole with a allen head set screw to hold to the shaft. They will cut almost any thing you put to...

Charlie, you are at about the same step on your Hit and Miss as I am. I like the brass top on block, I was thinking of something very similar. I ended up making my block from aluminum. The rest is from the prescribed material. I will be watching your progress. Mel

    What is it?

My first thought of "what is it", It's a container or Flask for mercury. I know that they used to use metal container to transport mercury in because glass would break if the volume was much over a few liquid ounces. Mel

Harold. I got the Shop Wisdom book yesterday and have been soaking up some of the great information. Probably one of the best books I have seen. So many (new to me) techniques and illustrations of their use, that it will take a long while to digest them all. The many projects in the book will...

    Re: First Engine No Plans.

The truth is that most of us have to buy some Chinese stuff just to have tools that we can afford to buy. Heck both my lathe and mill are Chinese. What I have found out is: that some, not all the Chinese stuff will work for the casual use of the home shop machinist if not pushed too hard. The...

John I didn’t want to hijack your thread on flywheels so I’ll ask my question here. In the photo of you turning the flywheel, you’re using some sort of round cutter. I think that some time in the past, a photo of the same tool was shown. I couldn’t find the post. My question is: ??? what is it...
