    A THREAD FOR LURKERS ONLY

I am sorry to say yes I am a lurker. I really don't have a finished product yet to show you all. I do have 6 or so projects in some form of production. The reason for so many is I get to a place where I don't know how to machine something with what I have and move on to something else that I...

What does everyone do? (or did, if retired)

Worked in steel mill for 31 yrs as mechanic. When mill closed drove big rig for 4 yr than the big dummy(me) fell off ladder in my garage and pulled both arms from sockets. Retired and on disablity since 2005. Started teaching myself machine work since 97.

Looking for DrO for Mill Drill

I have a Micro-Mark mill that I put a DRO bought off e-bay for $350. This DRO was cheap and looked good. After installing it and using it I have to say it looks good but is useless. It is the type that uses calipers with cables to the display. The cables will not stay hooked to the calipers and...

    Sheet Metal Shear Set up

Hello, I've been wanting to buy one of those myself for model work. I can't say on the small shear but--I worked in industrial maintenance for 30 years and the way we set the big shears was with a filler gauge. Than when we were sure the blade would not touch, we would test cut. Than move the...

    Micromark lathe / mill combo

I have an older smithy combo, the AT300. Nice but I don't think I would buy another combo. The mill is too limited on table travel and never buy a combo with a round mill column. I also own a newer micro-mark mill with metal gears. Nice unit but limited to light cuts. That said I do like the...

    "Mary" beam engine

That is a lovely engine. Great work you done on it. I just got a copy of the book on the mary engine by Tubal Cain. I will have to see if castings are still availble.

    Resistance Soldering?

I bought one from Micro-Mark. For what it does I am well pleased. I do use it on smaller parts for engines and models. Currently am building Kozo's A3 switcher and used it on some smaller pieces. So far only used it on 1/16 and 3/32 brass. They are kind of pricey tho.

    Cannons

That is nice work. Been wanting to build one that shoots golf balls(I live out in the country with lots of room around) but have too many other projects started right now. Some day. Again those are very nice.

it could be me but i don't think so

Sorry to hear that no one replies. I myself do not reply to anything I do not know(which is a lot being new to machine work)but don't despair. I am sure if someone knows the answer they will reply and reply with some good answers. I have seen your posts but alas do not know the proper reply to...

    latest loco running on steam.

Now that is looking very nice and running nice. Is that what is called 3/4 size? Just started to think about building Kozo's A3 switcher. That would be a first loco for me. Again nice loco.
