Help with a Brown & Sharpe Micromaster Digital Micrometer

OK, the picture shows my Brown & Sharpe Micrometer with ONE yellow button. How do I change it from MM to INCH? The internet is useless. When I put in a new battery, the screen shows MM. When I press the yellow button, the screen says SET and when I turn the knob, the screen stays at 0.000 and...

    Model Engine Builder Magazines

I was going through my shop and found my box of Model Engine Builder magazines. I have issues 1 through 27 (missing issue 25). All issues have the removable blueprint pages (missing from issue 2). If there is any interest in these, I would consider putting them up for sale. I would only ask $10...

    Bridgeport 2J (1 1/2 HP) Upper Repair

Well, H&W did a great job on the video on how to disassemble the 2J 1 1/2HP upper assembly I have. I'm in the process of cleaning all the parts. I have purchased an upper bearing and belt refresh package. As I'm getting familiar with H&W's reassembly of the upper part, I can't seem to find any...

    Bridgeport 2J (1 1/2 HP) Upper Repair

Thanks for all the advice. I did wait on the motor until I had a buddy at bit younger than me with a lot more muscle show up. He pretty much got on my small step stool and picked it right up and out. Now the rest of the disassembly is easy for me as long as I watch the H&W and stop thinking...

    Bridgeport 2J (1 1/2 HP) Upper Repair

So, I was working on Friday with the Bridgeport Mill. Looked up and saw smoke coming out of the motor. YIKES, turn off everything and unplug the power source. Reached out to H&W Machining in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They pretty much convinced me of bearing failure in the upper half. I bought the...

I finished my search. I went everywhere I could see magazines and to no avail finding the Issue #25 magazine. So here's where everything stands. I have Issues #1 to #27 with no Issue #25 magazines. I have every blueprint from Issue #1 to #27 including the one from Issue #25. I can work with...

For Sale Model Engine Builder Magazines

ajoeiam, I went in the man cave and I found the blueprints for Issue #2. I also found the blueprints from Issue #25 that I said was missing. I used #25 blueprints to make the EXTERNAL hone in those blueprints. If I have the #25 blueprints, I must have the magazine somewhere. More deep...

    Powder paint for model engines

I'm guessing you know what kind of heating system to use? I inherited an electric oven that worked fine out in my garage. I'm pretty sure a gas oven has too much stuff that doesn't work for powder coating.

Other uses for a lathe around the home.

Other uses for a lathe??? OK, I wanted to make some walnut bowls for a wedding gift. I chainsawed some blanks, made a jig to hold the blanks and chucked them up to make the bowls. I don't have a wood lathe and I thought, "What the hell" I couldn't screw up much with wood. But boy, did I make a...

    End of an (electrical) era

67 Bugs were unique. I believe I read somewhere that a lot of the components in a 67 were one of a kind. Parts from a 66 or 68 wouldn't fit a 67 at all. But, my God, my 67 is so easy to work on. I can't tell you how many Bug Engines I tore down to the crankshaft for my friends in the late 60's...

    EDM help

Andrew, Thanks for you response. I live in Indianapolis, Indiana USA. But I did have enough material left over that I decided to teach my self a lesson. I made a 3rd block and machined that one to specs. While I was machining this 3rd block, I kept remembering what I did wrong and vowed not...

    Tabletop CNC

Brian, I got very lucky. A friend of mine upgraded his CNC and because I've done a lot of favors for him, he just gave me his old system and allowed me to use his Easel account. I draw 2D items in Autocad, save the file as DFX, put the file into Easel, get the g-code and cut out the parts...
