Serial number is usually stamped into the top of the ways down by the tailstock. I think that number cast into it is something else.

Good luck, Brian. I just had my left hip replaced on 26 Feb. My recovery was excellent and within about 6 weeks I was doing my regular activities again. I hope your recovery goes well!

Wouldn't it be simpler to replace the auto ignition points (normally closed switch) with a simple normally-open reed switch for the cam to close for each firing of the plug? That's how it works on all the engines I have worked with. I've had a few full-size hit and miss engines that use buzz...
