    Werowance attempts Upshur Vertical Single

That is strange. I had the rod horizontal across the hearth (5 fire bricks to form a temporary hearth) which worked for me. I found the rings that were heated with Oxy/Mapp failed with the slightest touch when installing. I tried again with a large wide flame Propane torch which worked for me...

    Werowance attempts Upshur Vertical Single

When making my piston rings from the Mini break cylinders I made the rings, used a pair of side cutters to split then. Put the rings on a small rod using the split ends to hold themselves on the rod. Heated until red hot. The rings simply fell off once they reached the correct temperature...

    Cast iron

I used the rear brake cylinder from a Mini to make piston rings. Out of the 5 I made only 1 did not break. The survivor was the only one that was heat treated correctly. The flywheel was made from a 2kg weight lifters weight. Cheers, Andrew in Melbourne

    Question on Hall Magnets

    Scotty's Webster

I used a weight lifting plate to make the flywheel. The piece of steel would be spot on for your flywheel. Looking forward to a video of it running soon. Cheers, Andrew in Melbourne

    Felgiebel 16,6

I have cast aluminum using a gas fired furnace and with a charcoal / bricket furnace. The charcoal was a failure as i could not control the temperature. The castings seemed to have a grainy structure and cavities which were large enough to put a pencil into. My first gas furnace was a square...

How do I tell .005"steel from alum sheet from steel?

Instead of rosen flux try Bakers solder flux. It work for mechanical soldering. Rosen is for electrical or electronic soldering. Cheers, Andrew in Melbourne

    Yet Another Webster Begins

I used a Jan Ridders vapour tank/carburetor on my engine. The fuel was from the 2 stroke weed wacker which is 50:1. The only speed control is to change the mixture. Cheers, Andrew in Melbourne
