The problem here though is that having a seizure doesn't always ( in fact can be rarely) mean cleanly falling backwards/forwards in the first instance.
cheers, Ian
Some people can have the condition and only rarely have a seizure, and there are all sorts of degrees of seizures as well. If it's not too bad a category, I see no reason to give up a hobby. It just restricts the way you go about things to improve the safety. For example things like automation...
I've had first hand and second hand experience with that, and I would see the major problem depending on the severity or character of your case, to be the involuntary throwing of the arms in close proximity to the workpiece/chuck.A simple polycarb shield that allows you to access machining the...
If you had one of the retaining edges not so proud of the groove, could you heat the nylon and slip it over then? The nylon ring on my nailgun recently failed, and looking at the replacement, it was smaller than the OD of the piston, so after hunting on Google found it was recommended to stick...
Wow, amazing restraint Tin! I wouldn't know where to start myself!
I think I might just try and avoid clicking on this thread in future, and not in the least because to me it's like a Picasso in print form.
Beautiful job Mike, it runs so smooth! You must be very pleased with it! My 10yo daughter just remarked she loves the sound of it ticking over.
cheers, Ian
I don't think anyone could ever regret getting a rotary table Richard. They're just so damn handy, and unlike tilting/swivelling vises, really trivial to setup and centre!
cheers, Ian
Love the steam Spider! Brilliant idea. Here's an idea for your next project, beautifully suitable for a steam engine, and very steampunkish!
cheers, Ian
Not my design Rod! I just plundered the images when I was searching for ideas on convenient ways to move machinery. I've been searching like a madman, but for the life of me I cannot find the original post at all. I have a habit of marking good things to return to them later, but it's gotten...
I use this crowd in OZ for silicone carbide powder, pretty cheap and it's imported, probably the same stuff is available in the US even cheaper:

I always think it's very inspiring when people such as yourself don't let any form of handicap stand in the way of life and having a good crack at stuff Kevin. Good on ya mate and welcome to the forums! Looking forward to seeing your work.
cheers, Ian
What a way to narrow it down Longboy! You don't by any chance work in a technical help desk call centre, as that's usually the sort of detailed help I get from "Ted" in India when I'm having problems with my DSL. :wall:
I have to ask mate, do you know and your just teasing?
cheers, Ian
You don't mention any details, so I'm only guessing as to suitability, but seeing as it's home made I'm guessing budget is limited, so I would highly recommend these...
Not happy with just a swivel vise while I was waiting on the shipment of my mill, I went one further and bought an expensive tilting swiveling vise! Cool I thought, expensive but a great vise! Untill I went to use it. Wish I hadn't. I've had no use at all from it, and it's been sulking in the...
